WILLIAM H. GASTON. aged 79, pioneer resident of East Liverpool, died at his home, 417 West Ninth street, at 10:30 o’clock Saturday evening, following an extended illness of the infirmities attendant upon advanced age.
The deceased was born at Clarkson, O., April 8, 1839. He was a son of the late John and Jane Grafton. In his early life Mr. Gaston followed the carpenter and cabinet making trade. When the Civil war broke out he enlisted, serving in Co. O, 104th Ohio volunteer infantry. He served three years and was wounded once in action.
He is survived by one brother, Ira Gaston, of Rogers, O., and one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Chain.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon, at the late home, Rev. J. A. Speer, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview cemetery.
Friends may view the body from 7 to 9 o’clock this evening.
