Carl A. Janke, 70, of Hookstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997, at the Beaver Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born on March 14, 1927, in Bakerstown, Pa., a son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Dunbar Janke.
He retired in 1982 from St. Joe’s Mineral Corp. in Monaca, Pa. He was a member of the Service United Presbyterian Church in Raccoon Townshop, where he served as an Elder, trustee and a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force, serving in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Johnston Janke, at home; a son, Chris Janke of Coudersport, Pa.; a daughter, Cindy Davis of Hookstown; two sisters, Ruth Muniz of Alliance ad Dorothy Simpkins of Cecil, Ark.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Janke, Russell Janke and Henry Janke; four sisters, a grandson, Chris Allen Janke II.
The Revs. Richard Ankney and John Gordon of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church conducted services at the Welch Funeral Home with burial being at Mill Creek Cemetery.
