John C. Abrams
Chester – John C. Abrams of Indiana Avenue, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at East Liverpool City Hospital. He was born in Georgetown, Pa., May 19, 1922, a son of the late Robert B. and Pearl E. Allison Abrams. Mr. Abrams retired from the former National Steel in Weirton, where he was a chemical engineer, having earned his degree from West Virginia University after graduating from Chester High School. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chester, where he served as an elder and on the board of trustees, a longtime member of the Chester Lions Club and the 25 – Year Club at National Steel. Preceding him in death was his wife Ruth; two sisters, Leona and Eunice Abrams; and a brother, Thomas Abrams. Survivors include two sons, Jay Abrams of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Huey Abrams of Chester; a daughter, Christina Snyder and her husband Larry and their daughter Jessica, also of Chester; a brother, Robert Abrams of Richland, Wash; two sisters, Alberta Abrams of Chester and Mrs. Shirley Smith and her husband Dennis of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 508 Indiana Ave., Chester, officiated by the Rev. Trina Lewis. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Memorial Fund at the church. The Arner Funeral Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.
