Miss Maude L. Dawson, retired school teacher, died Thursday night in her home at 818 Highland Ave. following a several year illness. Miss Dawson was born in Smiths Ferry, a daughter of William F. Dawson and Barbara McFarland Dawson. She resided in East Liverpool for the last 52 years. She taught in the East Liverpool public schools for a number of years, and was the first principal of the old McKinley school. She was retired for about 10 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Flo Updegraff class in the Sunday school. She also was an honorary member of the Bible Literary club. Miss Dawson leaves two sisters, Miss Nell Dawson, with whom she lived, and Mrs. Jessie Morris, of Lowellville, and two brothers, William R. Dawson of Canton and Dr. R.W. Dawson of Detroit. Services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the Martin Funeral Home by Rev. William Dwight Heaston, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the Martin Home.
