Lillian Virginia Evans, 89, died Friday, May 3, at Homewood of Williamsport, in Williamsport, Md.
Born Aug. 14, 1923, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of Arlie B. Hutzler and Lillian Nesmith Hutzler.
She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, class of 1942. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she served on the Altar Guild. She had also been a member of the Gateway Garden Club and the Junior Civic League.
Ginny was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, reading and her pugs. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Russell F. Evans, on April 30, 2002; and her sisters, Opal Haas and Mary Piccolomini.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann DeHaven, of Cody, Wyo., and Lynette Scallion, of New York City, N.Y.; granddaughter, Amy Strobridge, of Martinsburg; and a number of nieces and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday, May 7, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service in the church.
