Sandusky Register
Date ?

Gordon “Jack” R. Fortier, formerly of Sandusky, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, in Kalamazoo, Mich., after a lengthy battle with dementia.

Jack was born and raised out east in White River Junction, Vt., to his parents, Ralph and Margaret Fortier.

Jack is survived by his mother; sisters, Patricia (Harold) Johnston, of Tennessee, and Bonny (Sonny) LaBounty, of Florida. Also surviving are children, Jason, of Kalamazoo, Brooke (Todd) Ortiz, of Grand Rapids, Mich., Kirk (Kendra), of Oregon, Ohio, and Zachary, of Sandusky. Many nieces and nephews survive along with three wonderful grandchildren, Spencer, Grace and Olivia.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Fortier.

Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was the epitome of a “jack-of-all trades, master-of-none”. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, golf and NASCAR, and loved his New York Yankees and New York Giants. He also loved his trivia, and given the chance would argue all day about politics and defending the Republican Party.

Romans 8:38-39

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

No visitation took place. Stroo Funeral Home, Cutlerville, Mich., handled the cremation. The family service was private.
