Private Hugh H. Frantz Makes Supreme Sacrifice In France
Lisbon, Jan. 5, Mrs. Anna M. Frantz, who lives west of Lisbon, was notified Thursday in a letter from Lieut. Col. Charles C. Pierce, of the burial and grave department in France of the death of her son, Private Hugh H. Frantz, of Battery A., 324th F. A., which occurred on October 16. The letter gave no information as to the cause of death.
Since the forepart of October no word had been received from Hugh Frantz by members of the family, and a short time ago the mother started an investigation through , the Red Cross. No notification of the lad’s death had been received from the war department.
Private Frantz was in training at Camp Sherman, going into camp with his brother, Carl D. Frantz, who was honorably discharged on December 6. Both were members of the light artillery, Hugy sailed with the 83rd division last May for overseas duty.
