GEORGE, Richard L., 80, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2012 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home in Schenectady, NY.
Born in Steubenville, OH, on February 9, 1932, the son of the late Myron W. and Margaret R. Long George.
He graduated from Wintersville High School and soon enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He became a flight instructor and served 14 years in the military.
Richard married Natalie Haden on November 28, 1958. He moved to the Scottsdale-Phoenix area and worked as a Senior Operating Systems Programmer for U-Haul International.
He retired following 36 years of service with the company in 2004.
Dick was an avid reader. He enjoyed playing bridge and watching movies, especially the timeless classics.
His wife Natalie passed away on May 15, 1993. He was also predeceased by his two sons, Jeffrey S. and John E. Meade.
Survivors include his daughter, Janet L. Krahn and her husband John of Schenectady; his sister, Nancy Mapel of Chattanooga, TN; and three grandchildren, Ian M. Gordon, Jori L. Meade and Matthew S. Meade.
Private services will be conducted at Union Cemetery in Steubenville, OH.
Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to the American Diabetes Association Inc. or the Jefferson County Chapter of the Ohio Geneological Society.
