Obituary – Mrs. Mary A. Jackson

Mrs. Mary A. Jackson, aged 78 years, and the mother of C. A. Hutchison, of this city, died at the home for Protestant Ladies in Wilkinsburg. She was born in London, England, April 29, 1814. When but 5 years old she came to this country, arriving in Pittsburg with her father on July 4, 1819, just as the Pittsburgers were celebrating Independence Day. She had many interesting recollections of early Pittsburg which she delighted to tell to her friends. Mrs. Jackson was married twice, her first husband having been Thomas Hutchison, who died in 1851. She was married to William Jackson of Washington county, in 1873. She leaves three children, William, of Wilkinsburg, Charles of East Liverpool, and Mrs. M. A. Kaufman, widow of Capt. Kaufman, of Sewickley. Fifty-four grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren also survive her.
