LORENZ, Edward, 88, of Weirton, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in Life Line Hospital in Wintersville, Ohio.
He was the husband of Despina P. Misoyianis Lorenz to whom he was married for 53 years.
Born on June 12, 1924, in Steubenville, Edward was a son of the late Nicholas and Sarah Reimer Lorenz.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Ballato in 2003; four brothers, Frank, Nick, John and George Lorenz; and two sisters, Millie Lorenz and Sarah Dineen.
Edward proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy as a Gunner’s Mate 3rd class. He retired from National Steel Corporation where he was a crane operator and was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church and V.F.W. 2716, Weirton.
In addition to his wife, Despina he is survived by a daughter, Gina Bettino of Weirton; a son, Nick Lorenz (Kathy) of Wellsburg; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Ballato, Victoria and Jordan Bettino, Nicholas Lorenz and Amanda; five great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a special god-daughter, Stephanie (Misogiane) Wilson.
Funeral and Burial Services with Military Rites will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
