Martha Ruth Crawford Louk, 80, of Calcutta-Smith Ferry Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at home following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Middlebourne, W.Va., on March 25, 1917, a daughter of the late John A. and Martha Rutter Crawford.
An area resident most of her life, she was employed at the former Plaza Restaurant and the former Verna’s Pastry Shop. She was a member of the St. Clair Church of Christ.
Her husband, Elzie E. Louk, whom she married on Feb. 8, 1936, died on Nov. 23, 1996. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Louk Eismon, who died in 1980; a grandson, Anthony Cox, who died in 1989; and four sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Wanema) Cox of St Mary’s, W.Va., Carol Laughlin of Georgetown, Pa., Mrs. David (Kay) Nale of Colliers, W.Va. and Mrs. Charles (Karen) Poynter of Leetonia; three sons, Ken Louk of East Palestine and Ralph Louk and Dave Louk of East Liverpool; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Will Montgomery of the church conducted services at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Columbiana County Memorial Park.
