Funeral services for Major G. Newman, 59 years old, who died in St. Vincent’s hospital, Cleveland at 12:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon, will be held at the late home, 719 North Street, at 2:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Dr. D.W. MacLeod, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. W.H. Clark, of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may view the body from 7 to 10 o’clock tonight. Mr. Newman died following a major operation of the stomach. Because of a weak heart he failed to rally from the effects of the anesthetic. He was born in Calcutta, his mother, being the late Elizabeth M. Newman. He spent the greater part of his life in East Liverpool. Mr. Newman was a member of the Masonic Order and of the First Presbyterian Church. He was employed by Armour and Co. for 15 years; by The Riggs Company for 12 years and for the last few years has been salesman for The Crockery City Ice and Products Co. He had been failing in health but a few weeks. He leaves his wife, Netta M. Newman, and one son, J. Wilbur Newman, who were at his bedside when death came.
