NOCERA, Jo- Katherine, 57, of Steubenville and most recently a resident at The Laurels, passed away on Wednesday August 15, 2012, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born September 3, 1954, in Steubenville, a daughter of Josephine Carestia Nocera of Steubenville and the late Vincent Jim Nocera.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alfonso and Josephine Carestia, and Natale and Catherine Nocera.
Jo was employed by the Jefferson County Department of Job and Family Services from 2002 until her retirement at the beginning of this year.
Jo is more commonly known for her knowledge and love of music. She was employed by the National Record Mart from 1975 until the store closed in 2002. She was promoted to store manager in 1982 and was named the NRM Manager of the Year in 1995. Jo also served on the Board at the Fort Steuben Mall. She was an avid Steelers Fan.
She was a member of the former St. Anthony’s parish now Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church. She was a 1972 graduate of Catholic Central High School
In addition to her mother, Jo is survived by her sister, Natalie (Matt) Ulasiewicz of Steubenville, and her niece, Nicolette Petrisko of Cincinnati, OH.
Calling hours are Friday 5-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, where services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Fr. Tom Nau will officiate.
Entombment at Holy Spirit Mausoleum, Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
