Raymond Carl Piatt Sr., 76

WELLSVILLE – Raymond Carl Piatt Sr., 76, beloved husband of 55 years, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at his residence. Born Sept. 15, 1937, in Empire, Raymond was a son of the late Thomas N. and Etta Keenan Piatt. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Dorothy M. McHenry; and brother, Thomas Piatt.

A kind, loving soul, Raymond enjoyed bowling at the Tri-State Lanes participating in the church bowling league for more than 20 years. An avid Cleveland Browns fan, he was always hopeful for a great season. Raymond was a veteran of the United States Air Force holding membership with the Wellsville American Legion. He worked for HK Porter in Vanport, Pa., firing the kiln and working in the brickyard.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Boughner Piatt whom he married on Nov. 27, 1958; his son, Raymond C. Piatt Jr. of Athens, Ohio; a daughter, E’Deana (Elmer) McBane of Wellsville; a sister, Donna Jean Byers of Wellsville; and grandchildren, Bonnie Butler and Alford (Sara) Butler of East Liverpool and Sarah (John) Stafford of Wellsville.

Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Saint John Lutheran Church. The Rev Eric Edwards will officiate.

Interment will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Toronto.
