Rites Monday For A. L. Rabenstein, 59
Albert Louis Rabenstein, 59, former Hancock County school superintendent, died today at 1 a.m. in the Carolyn Nursing Home at Washington, Pa. Mr. Rabenstein, formerly of Chester, retired in 1952 when he suffered a stroke of paralysis. He had been in hospitals in East Liverpool and Pittsburgh at intervals before entering the nursing home. He was born in Aspinwall and came to Chester in 1921 as a high school teacher. Later he was promoted to the post of high school principal before being named county school superintendent in 1935. He attended Indiana State Teachers College at Indiana, Pa., and received his bachelor of arts degree from Pennsylvania State University and his master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Rabenstein was a member of the National Education Association, the West Virginia Teachers Association and the First Presbyterian Church of Chester. He leaves two sons, Albert L. Rabenstein Jr. of Boston and Richard B. Rabenstein of Washington. His wife, the former Eunice Allison, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Allison of Chester, died Nov. 22,1950. Rites will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester by the Rev. William Claghorn. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday and Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Obit incorrectly lists Albert being buried in Riverview Cemetery. He is buried in Locust Hill Cemetery.
