Wellsville – Ella G. Raffa, 95, of Wellsville died at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at the Calcutta Health Care Center following a two month illness. Born May 10, 1913, in the Grant District of Hancock County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ennis and Anna Allison, she was a lifetime area resident. A homemaker and a Protestant by faith, in addition to her parents she was preceded in death February 14, 1978, by her husband, John A. Raffa, as well as two sisters and two brothers. She was an avid bingo player. Surviving is a daughter, Shelva Wilson, and her husband, Tom, of East Liverpool; and two sons, Donald Lee Raffa, and his wife, Esther, of Austintown, and Bob Raffa, and his wife, Sandra, of Wellsville. There are seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Anna Mae Hager and her husband, Bob, of Lavonia, N.Y. There are several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Merrill Williams of the East Liverpool First Church of the Nazarene is to conduct services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial is to be in Columbiana Memorial Park. Following the service, family and friends will gather at the fellowship hall of the First Church of the Nazarene.
