MIDLAND – Josephine (Pips) Ranalli, 91, died early Sunday morning, May 20, 2001, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Aug. 29, 1909 in Midland, a daughter of the late Angelo and Carmella Leone Ranalli, she had been a resident of Midland all of her life. She owned and operated Ranalli’s Market in Midland where she took over the operations of the store after her mother’s death in 1935. A member of St. Blaise Parish family, she also was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America.
She is survived by her sister, Jean Vilsack with whom she resided ; a sister-in-law, Lucy Ranalli of Midland; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and she was a godmother to many.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Ross “Rizzie” Ranalli and Dominic “Nick” Ranalli; and seven sisters, Antoinette “Delta” Daniels, Lenna Peckich, Margaret Migliore, Mary P)alanza, Kathryn “Kate” Bomberger, Emma Spazianni and Angaline Vranich.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2001, at the Schwerha Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave..
A Mass will be conducted a the St. Blaise Church Saturday. Interment will follow in Beaver Cemetery.
