PATRICIA MAY (ASHER) ROSS, 79, of Chester, passed away peacefully among family and friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Stone Pear Pavilion at Foxcrest following a viliant struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
Mrs. Ross was born May 18, 1932 in Hiloh, WV, the daughter of the late Wilda Cosgrove Asher, she had lived the the local area all her life.
Pat was a member of the New Manchester Christian Church and will be remembered as a wonderful wife, loving mother and mother-in-law, supportive grandmother, and loyal friend. She loved cooking and entertaining friends and family in her home.
In her 79 years she accomplished many unique things. like the art of etching knives, dental assisting, a receptionist at Hancock County Federal Saving and Loan, along with managing and operating Valley View Grocery as a Co-owner for 12 years with her business partner and friend Bill (Pitt) Pittinger. She enjoyed playing cards in several local card clubs, motorcycle rides, dancing, raising three children, and enjoyed her grandchildren. She also was a Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Cub Scout Leader, Farm Women’s Club President and the Chester High School May Queen of 1949.
Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband Carl Dale Ross in 1978 and her mother Wilda Asher in 1993.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Leslie) Ross of Wexford, PA; her daughter Elizabeth (Kenneth) Keller of Chester; and her daughter Heather (Eric) Hall of New Cumberland. She is also survived by her sisters,
Barbara (Paul) Pugh of New Cumberland and Jackie Greer of Spring Hill, FL; a devoted aunt, Betty Cosgrove; and her best friend and 49er classmate Samuel (Bud) Kraft.
She had seven grandchildren, Carl Keller, Alexis Keller, Evan Hall, Charles Ross, Eliza Ross, Sydney Hall, and Jonathan Ross.
A memorial service was held in Pat’s honor at the New Manchester Christian Church on Saturday, Decembr 3, 2011 at 12:00 followed with a dinner in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, Pat respectfully requested memorial donations be made to the New Manchester Christian Church building fund, P. O. Box 502, New Manchester, WV 26056 or Valley Hospice Foundation, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
The family of Pat Ross extends their appreciation to Valley Hospice, the Foxcrest staff and the many friends who send cards and visited during her lengthy illness.
The Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester assisted with these arraignments.
