Samuel R. Taylor, 73, of Wyndmoor, Pa., a native of Hookstown and a World War I veteran, died Wednesday at 2 a.m. at a hospital in Philadelphia a few hours after being admitted.

Mr. Taylor was born June 9, 1893. He was a teacher at the Penn Charter School in Philadelphia for 40 years and also served as basketball coach. He retired in 1958. Following the war, Mr. Taylor left this vicinity. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of East Liverpool.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Margaret Canover Taylor, at home; a son, William Taylor of Drexel Hills, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Rolf (Betty Jane) Marsh of Mortonville, Pa.; a brother, James Taylor of Philadelphia and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Riverview Cemetery by Dr. A. K. Davison.
