D. H. Thompson Crushed By Wellsville Slide
Marking the third fatality on CWA projects within 32 days in Columbiana County, Duffield H Thompson, 55, of the Wellsville Salineville road, was killed today at 10 a.m. when crushed under a landslide in the Anderson limestone quarry, near Wellsville. Several other workers narrowly escaped injury. He leaves a widow, Mrs Elizabeth Groner Thompson; his mother, Mrs Duffield Thompson of Toronto, and four sisters, Mrs Mary Grizella of Toronto; Mrs Sarah Dennis of Cleveland; Mrs May Welch of West Bridgewater, Pa, and Mrs Clifford Rollings of Cannonsburg, Pa. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m.in the MacLean funeral chapel, Riverside Avenue, Wellsville, in charge of Rev Isaac K Teal, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Wellsville. Burial will be made in Spring Hill Cemetery.
