AMBRIDGE, Pa.-Barbara E. Torrence, 74 formerly of Hopewell Township passed away peacefully at her home in Ambridge on Saturday, July 20, 2013 surrounded by her loving family, following a very short illness.

She was born in Chester, W.Va.; on Aug. 19, 1938 to the late Wilmer and Doris Mumaw Pugh.

A homemaker, she had attended Chester schools and the Grandview Mission in Lawrenceville.

Her husband, James H. Torrence preceded her in death,.

Mrs. Torrence is survived by her daughters; Tina Dugan of Ambridge, Kim Raposa of Portsmouth, R.I. and Jamie Chiappini of St. Louis, Mo.; her brother, Gary Pugh and sister Marian Reed, both of Chester; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild.

Minister Stacy A. Popejoy of the Chester First Christian Church will celebrate Mrs. Torrence’s life on Wednesday, July 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, WV. Interment will follow at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Georgetown. Friends are welcome to visit with the family Tuesday afternoon and evening at the funeral home in Chester from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
