Betty Bartley Varner, 81
Ruskin, Fla. — Betty Bartley Varner, 81, formerly of East Liverpool, died at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Sun City Center Hospice House. Born Aug. 29, 1925, in East Liverpool, a daughter of the late Ethan Clair “Sparky” and Margaret Ellen Bartley, she was a registered nurse and worked at Thomas Steel Strip in Warren, Ohio. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1943, she was a 1947 graduate of the Cadet Nurse Corps. A Life Member and Founder’s Club Member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association, she also belonged to the Sun City Center Registered Nurses Club. Surviving are a son, Kim McCaughtry and his wife, Marcia, of Valrico, Fla., and a granddaughter, Megan McCaughtry. Also surviving is a sister, Hazel Bartine Pike, of Sun City Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Bartley, Lewis Oliver “Ollie” Bartley and George C. Bartley, and by a sister Eileen Walker. Pastor Mike Ross of Hope Christian Fellowship is to conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial is to be at Mill Creek Cemetery.
