Martha Veney
EAST LIVERPOOL – Martha “Jane” Veney, 89, of Ruth Street, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a brief illness.
Born March 27, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Mildred L. Jackson Brown. She worked for many years as a cateress operating her own business. She was a member of the Sheridan A.M.E. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Veney, Sr.; a son, John R. “Jocko” Veney, Jr.; two sisters, Eleanor Louise Carter; Mary Moorehead, and one great-grandson, Darnell L. English.
Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie English of Industry, Pa; sister, Bonnie Jean Griffine of East Liverpool; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family and pay condolences from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the Second Baptist Church in East Liverpool. Pastor Ernest Peachey, Sr. of the church will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Calcutta U.P. Cemetery.
The Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of all local arrangements.
