Rogers – Clement L. Whitla, 72, retired Rogers blacksmith, died at his home near here today (June 11, 1937) at 2:30 a. m.
Mr. Whitla was born in Norristown, June 29, 1864, and conducted a shop in the village for several years, retiring a short time ago because of poor health. He was a member of the local Methodist Episcopal church. He was married in 1889 to Miss Margaret Jarvis.
He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Elsie McDonald of Rogers; two sons, Shannon of Wellsville and Wilford of East Liverpool; a half-sister, Mrs. Lucy Costello of Akron and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the home here Sunday at 1:30 p. m., followed by another service in the Highlandtown Methodist Episcopal church at 3 p. m. in charge of Rev. H. W. Middleton, pastor of the local M. E. church. Burial will be in the Highlandtown church cemetery.
