Lisbon, April 16.-James R. Christy, of East Liverpool, who has been in the county jail for some time, awaiting the action of the grand jury on a charge of assault and battery, has had the misfortune to lose his mother by death since his incarceration, and has written the following obituary notice:

“Catherine Ellen Young was born December 27, 1854, in Salisbury township, Meigs county, near to where the Young school house now stands, and died March 25, 1911, being 56 years 2 months and 28 days old. She was married to Rensalaer Christy, December 25, 1874, and to this union were born nine children, eight of whom are living: Mrs. C. H. Bunch, of Middleport, S. J. Christy and Mrs. Adam Heckathorne, of Toronto; Mrs. George Ray, of Parkersburg, W.Va., James, of Wellsville, Mrs. William DeGarmo, who has been at home with her mother since January and who has cared for her with a daughter’s tenderness, Mrs. James Crewley, of Wellsburg, W. Va., and Clarence. Still at home are the aged mother, 85 years of age, the husband two sisters and two brothers. She was a charter member of the Christian church of Gallia county and has always lived in the faith. The tribute of her children is, that she has been an unselfish, sacrificing mother, working for the comfort of her children and family. She was a great sufferer but bore it with great patience and fortitude. Her death though not unexpected was a great shock to the family.

The funeral services were held at Mt. Herman church Monday, March 27, being conducted by W. W. Thomson. Interment in the Texas cemetery.

“James R. Christy, son of dead mother.”
