Dr. Yurko maintained a surgical practice at Weirton Medical Center for 30 years, retiring in 1996 to maintain his home, with his love of gardening, dogs, home production of maple syrup, golfing, and mentoring his grandchildren.

Dr. Yurko could be seen most days riding his blue Ford tractor over his 14 acres, or bent over weeding and watering his vegetable gardens, or collecting white maple syrup buckets from tapped sugar maples on his property with the help of loving friends, Rusty Fish and son, Skyler.

But most of all, he will be remembered for his work ethic, storytelling, sense of humor, and dedication to his crafts and family.
