BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Elizabeth “Mo” Carlson (left) celebrates her 109th birthday Wednesday at the Orchards at Foxcrest, in Chester, with family friend Lorraine Beck Martincic and son Paul Carlson, of New Cumberland. Carlson, born in 1903, is believed to be the oldest woman in West Virginia. Family members, including daughter-in-law Barbara Carlson, helped her celebrate with a birthday cake and balloons. Her other son, Frank Carlson, lives in Houston. Carlson, originally from Oil City, Pa., spent most of her life as a homemaker and a cook. Six generations of her family are still living.
