JOSEPH MILLS, AGED 83, DEAD
Word has been received here of the death of JOSEPH H. MILLS, aged 83, of Knox township, which occurred Saturday morning at his home, near Knoxville, following an illness of dropsy.
The deceased was well known in this city. he was a member of the Island Creek Presbyterian church and was an elder for many years prior to his death. He was a veteran of the Civil war having served about four months as a member of Company H, 167th Ohio Volunteer infantry. He was commander of the G. A. R. post at Knoxville until it disbanded.
Mr. Mills was married October 21, 1858, to Miss Amanda J. Shane, who died in September 1910. Four children were born of the union: Harry S. at home, John H. of Steubenville, and Frederick G. H. of Sebring; one daughter, Mary R. deceased.
Funeral services were conducted at the late home in Knoxville at 10 o’clock this morning. Short services were also conducted this afternoon in the Island Creek Presbyterian church, Rev. J. F. Leyenberger, a former pastor of the church, officiating. Interment was made in the Island Creek cemetery.
