OHIOVILLE – John A. Cerasi, 81, of Ohioville, went home to be with his lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday evening, June 3, 2013.
Born April 6, 1932, in Midland, he was a son of Luigi and Camelia Ross Cerasi and had been a resident of Midland and Ohioville his whole life. John retired from Crucible Steel, Colt Industries, Midland having later worked for the maintenance department at the Western Beaver School District.
He was a faithful member of the St. Blaise Parish, Midland, where he had been an altar server for Funeral Masses, and was a member of the Holy Name Society. A member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2005, Midland, he had also been a member of he St. Anthony Club, Midland. John was a proud veteran of the U. S. Navy having served during the Korean War.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of nearly 60 years, Leona Duffy Cerasi; three daughters, Monica (Ed) Jarkiewicz, Industry, Joanne Wells, Findlay Twp., Luanne (Patrick) Cilli, Ohioville; a brother, James (Janet) Cerasi, Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Floretta Adkins, Midland; six cherished grandchildren, Johnathan Wickline, Industry, Kristi (Mark) Maier, Annapolis, Md. Roslyn Wells, Findlay Twp., Lisa (Matt) Thomas, Warren, Ohio, Malorie Cilli, Ohioville, Emilee Cilli, Beaver; a great-grandson, Patrick J. Cilli, Ohioville; and numerous nieces and nephews and special friends.
Preceding him in death besides his parents, was a brother, Anthony Cerasi; and three sisters, Mary Dominici, Julie Pillar and Regina Murphy.
Friends will be received today from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Schwerha-Knoll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 A.m. at St. Blaise Church by is pastor, Father Michal Yaksick. Interment with full military rite by the Midland American Legion will follow at the Beaver Cemetery.
