Willard Clemmer Gardner Sr., 74 of New Cumberland passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009 at East Liverpool City Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1934 in Hollidays Cove, The son of the late Albert and Edna May (Virtue) Gardner. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Viola Sinsel.
Willard retired from Weirton Steel Corp. where he worked as a millwright. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving in both the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam. He was a member of the Weirton Wesleyan Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Arlene (Huggins) Gardner, at home; five children, Rita Jo Lockard and Willette Decker, both of New Cumberland, Willard C. Gardner Jr., of Newell and Betty Zevios and Barbara Williamson, both of Weirton; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and lots of friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Turley Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Taylor officiating. Military graveside services followed at Shadow Lawn Memorial Gardens in Newell.
