Mary Alice Adney, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home on May 17, 2013.
Born April 14, 1925 in the former historical Smith Ferry Hotel to Esther and Donald McHaffie, she was the granddaughter of Alice and Andrew McHaffie and Walter and Nancy Campbell, who all preceded her in death.
A lifetime resident of Georgetown, she was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church Woman Society, PTA and the American Legion Post 952 Auxiliary.
She was a 1943 graduate of Lincoln High School in Midland.
During World War II she was employed by Westinghouse, Crucible Steel ad Loudons. In later years, she was employed by Orrs Jewelry and Dravo Sand and Gravel.
Mary Alice became a war bride 70 years ago to her surviving husband, James M. Adney. Her daughter Marylou G. Adney also survives.
In addition, she survived by her sister, Esther Mae oak (Donald; two brothers, Donald McHaffie (Betty), deceased, and Andrew McHaffie (Lora wife, all of Georgetown; two sisters-in-law, Doris Adney of Wellsville, OH, an Mary Adney of East Liverpool, OH. Se is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Andy McHaffie Laurey and Gary Schroeder, Mickey and Diane McHaffie, Shelly and Cam Youree, Vickie Smith, Mark and Michelle McHaffie, Shelia and Larry O’Neill, Maryanne and Tim Louk, Carolyn Adney, Cheryl, Mark and Kurt Adney, and Cindy Fisher.
Beloved great nieces and nephews surviving are Dylan and Reese McHaffie, Zachary Quintin and Wyatt Schroeder, Joshua and Ethan Smith, Teresa Hamilton Gayle Marcy, Ryan McHaffie, Laura Whitaker, Lance and Rose Youree, Jared, Shane, and Andi O’Neill, Marues McHaffie and Hannah Lou, along with many great-great nieces and nephews.
She loved and cherished spending time with her family.
Per her request a private interment service will be held at a later date. She is in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, WV
