Hobart “Hobe” Armitage, 90, of Attica, passed away early Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at his home in Attica.
He was born July 15, 1922, in Attica, to Dow S. and Ivetta (Link) Armitage. He married Jerri Fink on June 23, 1970, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mansfield, Ohio, and she survives in Attica.
Also surviving is a sister Nancy Auker, of Oakland, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jane Mulford and Margaret Eitle; and a brother Ned Armitage.
He was a WW II and Korean War Navy pilot, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross and an Oak Leaf Cluster. He also shot for the Navy Rifle Team and was a Top Gun. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 until he retired in 1978. He also worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as an operator, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Erie Conservation Club where he enjoyed shooting skeet, Attica American Legion Post 260, and the NRA. He was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.
Mr. Armitage’s wishes were to be cremated and have no services.
