CHESTER, W. VA.- GLADYS A. ASH, 85, of Alicia Arms Apartments, Plutus Avenue, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fox Nursing Home where she had been a patient two days.
She was born Aug. 13, 1910, in Middlebourne, W. Va., the daughter of Kenneth S. and Mary E. Mead Ash, and had resided in Chester for 10 years, coming from Newell.
Mrs. Ash was employed as a ware grinder at the Homer Laughlin China Co., retiring in 1975,
She was a member of the Newell Methodist Church and the Golden Agers Club, and attended Middlebourne schools.
Her husband, Albert S. Ash, died in December 1978.
She is survived by a son, Sherl Ash of Newell; a sister, Mrs. Rusty (Ruby) Simcox of Calcutta; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Evert Ash.; and a sister, Hazel Ash Eddy.
Services were held at the Arner Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Hogg of the Newell Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Shadow Lawn Memory Garden.
