FERGUSON, James Frank, Jr., 93, of Wintersville, Ohio, passed away on May 17, 2013, at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville.

Jim was born March 20, 1920, in Wintersville, Ohio, a son of the late James Frank, Sr. and Verna (Stevenson) Ferguson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ila Jean (Cook) Ferguson, who passed away in 1998; two brothers, Lowell and a twin brother; a sister, Elise Miller; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Ferguson.

Jim served his country in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War.

He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Sebring, Florida, and attended the Wintersville Nazarene Church. Jim worked as a physicians assistant at the Division of Corrections in Florida. He also worked on the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad.

Jim is survived by his son, Steven (Hollie) Ferguson of Sebring, FL; daughter, Gloria (Edwin) Mercer of Richmond, OH; sisters, Norma Davison of Leeonia, OH, Mavourneen Kearney of Wintersville, OH, Grace Huber of Wintersville, OH, and Ileen Baldwin of Steubenville, OH; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.

A private service was held for Jim at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville with Pastor Carol Smith officiating. Burial with Military Honors followed the service.

Jim was a long time cancer survivor and was an advocate for children’s cancer care. NASCAR drivers sponsor Victory Junction Gang Camp for children with cancer. The family asks that to honor Jim, memorial contributions be made to that charity: Victory Junction Gang Camp, 4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
