SHIRLEY A. FLETCHER, 74, of Chester passed away Monday, May 3, 2010, at home following a brief illness.
Raised in Georgetown, she was born on September 19, 1935 in East Liverpool, a daughter of the late William J. and Jimmie L. Gilkinson Reckner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Gailey, and a son, Charles Fletcher.
Shirley was attending the 1st Church of Christs Desciples and for the last ten years had been the receptionist at Flowerland Florist in Chester. She was a past president of the Chester VFW Post 6450 Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered with the American Red Cross.
She is survived by two sons, Allan (Anita) Fletcher of Columbus, OH and Mark Fletcher of Coalridge, NC; three daughters, Pamela (Marvin) Welch of Robbins, NC, Cynthia (Bret) Hickman and Trinnie Fletcher, all of Bear Creek, NC; two brothers, William (Carol) Reckner, of Minerva, OH and John W. Reckner of Chester; two sisters, Betty (Ronald) Pease of Calcutta and Alvera “Mike” (Ralph) Haigh of Clinton; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Arner Funeral Chapel with Rev. Willard Adkins officiating. Interment followed at the Shadow Lawn Memory Garden.
