CHESTER – Kenneth W. Flowers, 91, of Chester, while in the presence of his loving family, passed peacefully at his home on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, following a brief illness.
A son of the late William and Myrtle Cochran Flowers, Kenny was born on Sept. 3, 1920, in Chester.
He was veteran of U.S. Army serving in WW II where he learned the skills he needed to obtain a job at the former Crucible Steel in Midland upon returning home from the service. He retired as a Die Setter.
Kenny was a life- long Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel F. Flowers; one son, Kenneth L. Flowers; one daughter, Linda Hedges; brothers, Mark, Charles, and Earl Flowers; and one sister, Ruth Lamp.
He is survived by his current wife, Pearley June Hedges Flowers at home; one daughter, Vera Martin of Weirton; three grandchildren, Kenneth S. Flowers, Eric Martin, and Rachel Dyer and her husband Matt; and three great-grandchildren, Rogan Dyer, and Bryce, Haley, and Reese.
Pastor Steve Cummings of the Chester Church of the Nazarene will celebrate Kenny’s life on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester where friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Interment services will be held at Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group and the Honor Guard of the WV. National Guard will accord full military honors.
