James Gambrell Jr., 80, of Sandusky, died on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on April 19, 1932, in Anderson, S.C. He was employed by the Perkins Police Department for 40 years from 1969 to 2009, Farrell Cheek Steel Co., Discount Drug Mart, Erie County Cable Vision, Bechtel McLaughlin, City Service Cab and Singler Cab.
He is survived by his son Kenneth Gambrell, of Sandusky; nephew Lonell Taylor, of Sandusky; sister-in-law Althea Johnson; brothers-in-law, Stan Webster and Paul McIntosh; special cousin Corrine Gambrell; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Annie Lee Gambrell in 1986; second wife Willie Gambrell in 2011; parents, James and Aline (Richey) Gambrell Sr.; and a brother, Leon Gambrell.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, until funeral services at 1 p.m. at St. Stephen AME Church, 312 Neil St., Sandusky. The Rev. Barbara Huston will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
