OBITUARY – Mrs. Matilda Given

Mrs. Matilda Given, wife of William Given, died at her home at the foot of Round Knob near West Point yesterday morning (September 10, 1903) She was 54 years of age. The illness which terminated in her death dates back but six weeks and has been of such a character as to puzzle the attending physicians.

The deceased was a kind mother and wife and a devoted active Christian, having been a life-long member of the Presbyterian church. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Faulk and was born and reared at the old homestead near Calcutta. After she had reached woman’s estate, she married William Given. To this union were born seven children, four boys and three girls, the eldest, a son, being but 17 years of age.

Mrs. Givens is a sister of Solomon and Samuel B. Faulk, the well known millers of this city.

The funeral arrangements had not been completed last night. The body will be laid at rest at Longs Run Cemetery.
