GRECO, John, 87, of Boca Raton, Fla., passed away on May 25, 2013.
John is survived by his wife, Helen R. Greco and her son, Michael Gray. Also, surviving is his brother, Victor and John’s children, John Ray (Bernadette) Greco, Christopher Greco, David Ross Greco, Edward C. (Nay) Greco, and Lila Clare (Ronald) Whitehair. Surviving grand children include John Ross, Christopher, Dora, Ashley, Mathew, Maura, Brittanee, Angela, Gordon; and one great-grandchild, Adalyn.
He was predeceased in death by his first wife, Dorothea Mae; and brothers, Alex and Joe.
John was born on August 26, 1925 in Fairmont, WV. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific theater where he was awarded the Purple Heart. After the war, he moved to Weirton, WV, and joined two of his brothers, Joe and Victor, in owning Greco Plumbing and Heating. He was a well-respected businessman and proud member of the United Association for over 35 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks, and board of the Patios Condominium Association of Boca Raton.
John enjoyed flying, fishing, hunting, golfing, swimming, traveling and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. The Reverend Father Manuel Gelido will preside. Interment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Weirton, WV.
