BESSIE JANE KELLY

Mrs. Bessie Jane Kelly, 88, of 622 Blackmore St. died Friday at 12:40 p.m. at Osteopathic Hospital following a six-month illness.

She had resided in the area her lifetime.

Mrs. Kelly was born Jan. 29, 1886, in St. Clair Township, a daughter of William and Isodene Thomas Smith.

She retired in 1968 as a finisher at Plant 6 of the Homer Laughlin China Co. after 25 years service. She was an honorary member of the International Brotherhood of Pottery and Allied Workers and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Kelly’s husband, Edward F. Kelly, died in 1950. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dale Thelma Kibble of East Liverpool; three sons, Thomas E. Kelly of Unity and Richard A. Kelly and Lester J. Kelly, both of East Liverpool; a sister, Mrs. William (Grace) Penn of Virginia; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. Lawrence Crawford of the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday afternoon and night at the funeral home.

NOTE: There is one mistake in this obituary. It is stated that Mrs. William (Grace) Penn was a sister of Bessie. She is actually one of Bessie’s daughters.
