Mrs. Nettie Fay Knox, 82, of Washington St., Newell, died today at 5:20 a.m. en route to City Hospital after she became ill at home.

She had resided with a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Gladys) Newman.

A native of Ravenswood, W. Va., Mrs. Knox was born Feb. 8, 1890, a daughter of Andrew and Lucinda Lee Howell. She had resided her lifetime in the Chester – Newell area and attended the Christian Church of Newell. Her husband, John Knox, died in 1938.

In addition to Mrs. Newman, survivors include two sons, George W. Knox, of Wellsville and Alonzo B. Knox of Newell; five other daughters, Mrs. Emma Monroe and Mrs. Lawrence (Olive) Plum, both of Newell, Mrs. Pauline Rearley of Wellsville, Mrs. Howard (Audrey) Newbrough and Mrs. John (Betty) Hissam, both of Chester; 29 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m., at the Chester Chapel of the Arner Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Allen Fields of New Cumberland officiating. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.
