Obituary – Mrs. Catherine Laughlin

Mrs. Catherine Laughlin, aged 19, wife of Joseph L. Laughlin, died suddenly from heart disease Friday afternoon (February 2, 1906) at the home of Mrs. Faustnaught, in Allegheny. The young woman was paying a social call on the Faustnaught family when stricken, expiring almost instantly. She had been married in this city January 2, death following one month later.
She was the daughter of John Reese of Sheridan Avenue; from whose home the funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock. The Rev. J. C. Taggart, of the First United Presbyterian Church and the Rev. David Jones of the Methodist Protestant church officiating.
Cut off in the flower of her youth the death of the young woman was a deep shock to the family and friends in the city. She had a wide acquaintance and her sudden demise comes as a sorrow to all that knew her.
Mrs. Laughlin was brought up in the United Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Sunday school class of Joel Taylor, at the Methodist Protestant church.
The remains were brought here Saturday evening from Allegheny, and will be laid to rest in Riverview cemetery. Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by five brothers and one sister as follows: William Reese, Los Angeles, CA; Edward and Mrs. Mame Duke, of this city; James, of Huntington, WV; David and Lloyd at home. The pallbearers will be chosen from the Sunday school class of which she was a member.
