CHESTER – Stanley R. Laughlin, 61, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at his home with his loving and caring family at his side as they have been throughout his yearlong battle with cancer.
Stan was born in Mannington, W.Va., on Dec. 22, 1950. He was a son of Jean Brummage Laughlin of Grove City, Ohio, and the late Mickey R. Laughlin.
He was employed by the Hancock County School System as an Industrial Technology teacher at both the Oak Glen and Weir High Schools.
Stan was a graduate of Grove City High School in Ohio and received his under graduate degree from Fairmont State College. He went on to receive his master’s degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debra Vincent, and his mother-in-law, Beverly Aaron.
His wife, Chris Aaron Laughlin, who he married on June 15, 1974, survives at home.
He also leaves his two daughters, Courtney Balch and her husband Chris, and Ashley Hammonds and her husband Ryan; his brother, Robert Laughlin and fiance, Melisa Osburn of Grove City, Ohio; and his sister Pamela Laughlin, also of Grove City.
A very proud Pappy, he will be missed immensely by his grandchildren, Madilyn and Mikalyn Balch and Tysen Hammonds.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Family friend, Dave Willey, will celebrate Stan’s life on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Burial will follow at the Shadow Lawn Memory gardens in Newell. Family and friends will gather on Monday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Chester.
