WEIRTON, W.Va. – John L. Majoris, 89, of Weirton, passed away at home with his family at his side on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006.

He was born Sept. 29, 1917, in Barnesboro, Pa., the son of the late Michael and Cathryn (Keblish) Majoris. His wife of 66 years, Mary Helen (Korzi) Majoris, preceded John in death on Feb. 18, 2005. Three brothers, Joe, Mike, and Andy Majoris, also preceded John in death.

After 34 years of service, John retired from Weirton Steel, where he worked as a foreman. He was a very active member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, and the Weirton Knights of Columbus 3734, where he accomplished the status of a Fourth Degree Knight. When he was not spending time with his family, John enjoyed raising funds for various causes and organizations. John will always be remembered as a caring and giving man by all who knew him.

John is survived by his two sons, Richard Majoris and his fiance, Fran Brandolino, of Weirton, and Gregory and his wife, Yvonne Majoris, of Toronto, Ohio; his daughter, Rose Marie Parks and her husband, Gerald, of Washington, Pa.; two brothers, Edward and his wife, Mary Majoris, and Frank and his wife, Pauline Majoris, all of Weirton; two sisters, Mary Klimack, of Barnesboro, Pa., and Irene DeLasko, of Michigan; granddaughter, Darcee Groves and her husband, Don; grandson, Todd Majoris; great-granddaughter, Shaylee Groves; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 6, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where the Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 6 p.m. Friday evening.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, with the Rev. Father Larry W. Dorsch as celebrant. Entombment will follow at the St. Paul Cemetery Mausoleum, Weirton.
