Mrs. Sarah Maratta, aged 79 years, died at 5 o’clock Yesterday morning (December 31, 1903) at the home of her son-in-law M. L. Anderson, on Thompson avenue. Three weeks ago she contracted a bad cold which soon developed into pneumonia terminating in her death. She realized that she could not live and told them at the bedside she was fully prepared to meet her Maker.

Mrs. Maratta was the widow of the late Caleb Maratta, a well known steamboat mate. After his death Mrs. Maratta spent the summer months in Beaver with her son, Peter W. Maratta, and the winters here at her daughter’s home. She was a kind, beloved Christian lady, always taking an active interest in the M. P. church with which she was long affiliated. She is survived by three children. Mrs. M. L. Anderson of this city, Mrs. Kate Saufield of Pittsburg, and Peter W. Maratta of Beaver, Pa.

The funeral and burial services are to be private and will be held a the house at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Rev David Jones and Rev. J. C. Taggart will officiate. Interment in Riverview cemetery. The body can be viewed by the friends from 2 to 5 o’clock this afternoon and from 7 to 9 o’clock this evening.
