Charles Frederick Norris, 77
PLANT CITY, Fla. – Charles Fredrick Norris, 77, of Plant City, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at his home in Plant City, Florida, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Newell, W.Va., on Aug 7, 1936, the son of the late Robert W. Norris and Olive (Stephens) Norris.
He graduated from Wells High School in 1954. Chuck was a veteran of the US Navy, serving 1954-1957. After the Navy Chuck married his loving wife of 54 years Kathleen Proctor. Together they raised three children, Kelly Ayoub of Pittsburgh, the late Charles R. Norris, and Steven Norris of Plant City.
Chuck retired from the Pompano Beach Police Department after 20 years of service. He was a mounted police officer before becoming a detective in the Narcotics Dept.
He is also survived by a brother, Melvin Norris of Newell, his sisters, Linda and Becky Norris of Newell and five grandchildren, Jacob Norris of Plant City, Ferris, Jordan, Cody and Shane Ayoub of Pittsburgh, Pa. and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, and his son, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, James and Steve Norris.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Nixon Funeral Home in Newell, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
Burial will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, Newell, WV. The Tri-State Veteran Burial Group will conduct military service.
