Virginia Albertina (Brooks) Olcott, 93, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 12, 1918, in Bellevue, daughter of the late Parson Floyd Brooks and Dora (Miller) Brooks. The day after peace was declared by World War I, and at the age of two, her family moved from rural Bellevue to rural Norwalk. She was a graduate of Norwalk High School and Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing.
She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, where she participated in making many quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She also was a member of the Charity Circle for Bible Study.
She is survived by her children, John Olcott, Wayne (Gretchen) Olcott and Eunice (Michael) Kessler; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband F. Willard Olcott; brothers, Karl and Theodore; sisters, Elizabeth Rice and Rachel Koch; and a grandson Greg Thorley.
Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, and from 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, until services at 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Ave., Norwalk. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.
