Frank Olenick, 78, 3212 West Street, Weirton, died at 2 a.m. this morning at the Weirton General hospital where he had been a patient since Monday, February 18. Death was attributed to natural causes.

Mr. Olenick was born February 5, 1885 at Zemplan, Czechoslovakia, a son of the late Frank and Helen Olenick. He had resided in Weirton for 40 years, coming from Jerome, Pennsylvania. Until his retirement in 1950 he was employed in the Strip Steel Department of the Weirton Steel Company.

Mr. Olenick was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church of Weirton and held membership in the Holy Name Society of the church, 25 Year Club, and the ISU.

Survivors include three sons, John Olenick at home, George Olenick, Weirton; and Captain Andrew Olenick, acting police chief of Weirton; three daughters, Miss Helen Olenick, at home; Mrs. Ray (Ann) Martinell, and Mrs. Albert (Sue) Vuiller, both of Weirton; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Selip Olenick, September 14, 1954, a son Frank Olenick, September 14, 1942; and a daughter, Miss Mary Olenick, June 11, 1935. Also one sister, Anna Yacos, and two brothers, Mike and Andrea.

Friends will be received at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.

Final blessing service will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by requiem high mass at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s church with Rev. Fr. Michael Kushner as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Paul’s cemetery.

Paraslas services will be held today and Saturday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
