Howard H. Olson, 77, of Independence Twp., passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012, in Heritage Valley Beaver.

He was born in Independence Twp. on March 20, 1935; the son of the late Ella Alexander. He retired after 35 years from Old Colonial Steel in 1983. He also worked at Alams Hardware for the past seven years. He loved to go hunting and fishing.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Edie and Sam Javonovich.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carole M. Olson, Independence Twp.; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry D. and Carol L. Olson, Independence Twp.; three grandchildren, Jerry and April Olson, Jr., David Olson, and Jamie and Jeremy Gilman; two special great-grandchildren, Jerry Olson III and Skyler Olson and numerous other great-grandchildren; two close cousins, Sam Javonovich and Ann (Jim) Hartle, as well as numerous cousins in West Virginia, Ohio, and Georgia and a brother-in-law, Larry (Judy) Carpenter.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the HUNTSMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES OF ALIQUIPPA, http://www.huntsmanfuneralhomes.com, 2345 Mill St., where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Herbster officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, P.O. Box 63, Monaca, PA 15061.
