Grace Plankinton Paul, 91

East Liverpool – Mrs. Grace A. Plankinton Paul, 91, of Purinton Avenue, formerly of St. Clair Avenue, died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1993, at home following a lengthy illness. She was born in East Liverpool Aug. 4, 1902, a daughter of the late James G. and Iva Nora Allison Plankinton. Mrs. Paul lived her lifetime here, the past eight years with her daughter and son – in – law. She had been a teacher 27 years at the Calcutta School before retiring in 1972. Before her marriage, she was a teacher three years at the former Pleasant Heights School She graduated from East Liverpool Hight School in 1920, and attended Kent State Normal College and Geneva College. An 81 – year member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, she was presented a certificate as the church’s oldest member this fall. Her husband, John W. Paul, whom she married Jan. 26, 1923, died Feb. 15, 1979. She also was preceded in death by two infant sons and a grandson. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Ruth Esther) Diddle of East Liverpool; three grandchildren and 10 grandchildren. The Rev. Dr. H. Gene Toot of the church and the Rev. David Peterson of the First Free Methodist Church are to conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial is to be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday.
